　　Landscape Architecture: Nature, Design, and People

　　学习内容：The project addresses the signficant redesign of a neighbourhood park primarily by working with structural vegetation; manipulating landform; and by introducing large scale water bodies. Students will analyze the historic, spatial, contextual, social and ecological qualities of the site, before defining their own working brief for the masterplan (1:1000), detail design proposals (1:200) and a topographic model. Delivery of the module focuses on two contact days a week, which include tutorials with a delicated studio tutor, site visit, group work and guided independent study.

　　Urban Ecological Design and Management

　　学习内容：The studio project is at the heart of this module and applies ecological concepts to an urban design site. The project strands add knowledge and skills that are used in the module submissions. The strands are: Ecological Urbanism, Cultural Studies, Social Studies, Media, Tools and Communication Strand, Topographic Water & Construction Studies, Vegetation, Ecology & Management Studies.

　　Landscape Planning

　　学习内容：This module will introduce you to the theories and practice of Landscape Planning. The project will give you the opportunity to work at the landscape planning scale of 1:10000. You will develop a strategic planning proposal for the Lower Don Valley in Sheffield. This will identify proposals for new development and Green Infrastructure, the aim being to reinvigorate this part of the city and deliver sigificant environmental, social, and economic benefits.

　　考核要求：There are two formally assessed assignments for the project and the marks will be assigned as shown in the table below. Note that work developed in the Topographic, Water and Construction Studies(TWC) strand will contribute to your project outputs.

　　Landscape Urbanism and Design

　　学习内容：The challenge of this project is to make design proposals for a section of a new forest ring park that follows and adapts the route and adjacent sites of Sheffield's inner ring road. A range of landscape architectural and urban design methods will be developed working experimentally to develop spatial/cultural, ecological tree environments, at strategic and site specific scales.

　　2. Site Specific Tree-based Detailed Design 40% of total mark

　　Introduction to Landscape Research

　　学习内容：The module aims to help students understand the importance and relevance of landscape research, identify the research topics that enthuse them and equip them with a set of basic skills that they can carry forward into planning and writing their dissertations and future careers in landscape.

　　考核要求：There are two ALTERNATIVE forms of assignment, each worth 100% of the final mark (maximum length 2000 words, including all references)

　　Landscape Research Topics and Dissertation

　　学习内容：The dissertation is the part of your learning that gives you a Master degree. This module provides opportunity for you to prepare for your dissertation wether you will be undertaking it this year or next year. Students on the one year Masters courses in Landscape Studies and Landscape Management will undertake their dissertations this summer. Students on the two year programme of Landscape Architecture will undertake their dissertations next year, although this preparation module gives you the opportunity to start working on your dissertation this summer if you want to and have the time so to do.

　　The Research Proposal should be informed by the work you have undertaken during the module, in workshops and in your independent study. The proposal is to be 2000 words long.

　　第二年 | The Second Year

　　选修：Landscape Design and Art Practice

　　习内容：The precise approach and scope of the garden project will be developed by you through independent research, readings, making, and drawing supported by reviews, field trip/site work, workshops, critical peer-teaching and debate. We shall examine the idea, the processes, the poetics and forms of the garden and its potential new uses for a diverse contemporary city and culture. You will make a proposal for an urban garden submitted as competition boards format.

　　2. The Garden as Art research presentations Workshop 4 in pairs or threes. This work is assessed at event by letter grade forming approx. 20% of your mark.

　　选修：Rural Landscape Planning

　　学习内容：Preparation of an indicative strategy for wind power development in the area, based on the LCA, but requiring professional judgement about the sensitivity and capacity of the different landscapes that have been identified to accommodate wind power development.

　　The outputs from the work should address all the strands of the brief in an appropriate way, covering the conclusions of your characterisation, your research on wind energy development and your work on capacity and scheme design.

　　考核要求：LCA report and presentation. Each group's presentation and presentation sheets will be marked on the 100 point scale by a review board of Paul Brindley, Rose Walker and our external reviewers David Mount and Carys Swanwick. The module leader will also mark the supplementary paper.

　　Special Project- Research and Development Study

　　学习内容：The aim of the module is to produce a brief for the Speical Project (LSC 6005). The project brief describes and defines the site/district and proposed development or regeneration, its context and issues; established a clear design/planning/management brief, rationale and approach for the Special Project; and forms the basis for independent critique of the proposal.

　　考核要求：1. The project brief should be presented as a document not exceeding A4 format, but not less than 200mm on any side.

　　2. The project brief should include a concise summary of no more than one page.

　　3. The document should not exceed 3000 words in the body text, i.e. excluding summary, references, as well as maps and illustrations.

　　学习内容：The module will cover issues such as ethics, professional appointment and relationships, the Landscape Institute and Pathway to Chartership, relevant landscape, environmental and contract law, contract documentation and prodedures. The module also involves a short interdisciplinary project that provides the opportunity to work with students from another profession- Engineering.

　　考核要求：In this assignment, you are required to produce a fee proposal for a client. 60% of total mark, workshop with engineering students, 40% of total mark.

　　Landscape Research Dissertation

　　学习内容：This module provides the opportunity to engage in autonomous study and research. Students work closely with an advisor in order to produce a substantial piece of research in their chosen area which has been informed by appropriate methodological and theoretical frameworks.

　　Type 1: Enquiry by Project

　　This involves undertaking an original enquiry based on either (a) the collection of new data, e.g. through survey or experiment, or (b) participation in a theoretically contextualised creative project.

　　Type 2: Enquiry by Systematic Review

　　This involves a structured, critical review of research or precedent on a selected topic, and will typicallty entail critical, systematic and evidence-based reviews of research, practice and/or policy.

　　Type 3: Enquiry by Design (Only avaliable to students who have completed LSC6005, Special Project)

　　This type of dissertation involves a critical, restrospective reflection and research contextialisation of the Special Project, in which the Special Project is to be understood as "evidence-based practice".

　　考核要求：A structured written text based on discipline specific norms and expectations. The normal length is 10000-15000 words (including references), but this may be reduced to not less than 8000 words (including references) for dissertations which emphasise a critique of visual materials (e.g. based on art practice or precedent analysis).
