与英国《泰晤士报高等教育副刊》（Times Higher Education）联合发布世界大学排名

 

 　埃克塞特大学在许多重要科学领域在国际上享有盛誉的同时，也拥有雄心勃勃的未来的学术发展规划。埃克塞特大学在2001年的英国高校科研水平评估中，98%的科研项目居国际、国内先进水平，其中一半以上的学科被评为5或5*（国际先进水平）。自2001年以来学校用于学术研究的经费达3000万英镑；自2006年起，学校又投入1900万英镑，用于购买设备。在上述基础上，学校希望能在2010年跻身于英国研究型大学前20 名的行列。2005年，埃克塞特大学研究经费达1900万英镑，与2004年的1140万英镑相比，增长了70%。此外，埃克塞特大学联手布里斯托大学和巴斯大学拨款1400万英镑推行了“大西部学术研究”的科研合作计划，并在其中占主导地位。该合作计划将吸引来自英格兰西南部的145名研究人员，其研究领域涉及从纳米技术、经济心理学、可持续发展、到高级工程等领域。
