1.Academics: UVA has a reputation of academic rigor to uphold, and the competition is brutal. Everyone who gets into UVA is smart, involved, and ambitious. The classes are difficult and there is little time to learn for learning's sake. Most of my class work is for test grades.

2.Academics: Academics are definitely a span point at UVA. Professors are extremely knowledgeable and, for the most part, willing to help. While students know how to have fun, academics never suffer and are understood to be a priority. There is a span competitive atmosphere when it comes to academics and achieving a 4.0 is sought after, but extremely difficult because of the high caliber of the classes. Its not ranked one of the top public schools in the nation for nothing, UVA deserves all the recognition it gets!

3.Majors: There's not a whole lot of variety in choice of majors at UVA. Schools like GMU and JMU have much better selections. Coming in undecided, this is something I wish I had explored further before choosing a school. I plan on getting an internship next summer, I think the process may be difficult, but that I will find one eventually. The hardest thing about internships is that most of them are unpaid, which sucks for a college student who is going to be in double digit debt when she graduates.

4.Majors: The College is great. I take classes is lots of different disciplines and feel like I'm getting a truly well-rounded education. The workload is reasonable. All of my teachers have been great. I try to avoid the huge intro-level classes because past experience has shown me that I struggle in these classes. Luckily, it is easy enough to find smaller classes that I can thrive in.

5.Diversity: I personally think UVA is pretty diverse, or at least more so than most other colleges. However, there are students who will say the opposite. I do think there is a tendency to self-segregate based on race/religion, but I think overall the student body is representative of many cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs.

6.Diversity: There are people from all sorts of countries and backgrounds, though students mostly come from the East Coast. It's very easy to find a group based on your politics, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnicity.

7.Guys & Girls: Many people are in relationships, but a lot of people are looking for casual hookups because they don't have time for relationships or don't want to commit. There are a wide variety of guys and girls regarding looks and interests.

8.Guys & Girls: Sometimes I walk around and fall in love 10 times a day. There are a lot of attractive guys, but they tend to only date or hookup with very attractive white females. But there is a variety of attractiveness.

9.Administration: The administration is completely lenient with underage drinking and drinking in dorms. There is a huge party scene, but you don't have to be apart of it, there are plenty of other opportunities for sober fun in the Charlottesville area.

10.Administration: Not too strict but you don't feel unsafe! The strictest thing is the honor code but that's a good thing because it means you can leave your backpack somewhere for hours and no one will steal it :)

11.Campus Food: There are lots of places and options so it makes getting food very convenient. However, the quality of the food and the variety isn't always the best. There are days where it can be really good though. It just depends on the day.

12.Campus Food: The food is often greasy and the fist and other mystery meat are frequently pinker than they ought to be. It is hard to find food that it both healthy and doesn't taste like cardboard. There is an abundance of unwashed fruit that is sometimes edible.

13.Campus Housing: New dorms are clean, green, and have many amenities but for me, it was a little less than a mile away from my classes at the Architecture school, it's a lot better for students in other schools. There are study rooms and living rooms on each floor. I have friends in Gooch/Dillard and they complain of an even longer commute.

14.Campus Housing: The overall experience depends on where you end up. Its random so you can't influence it at all. There are 3 main 1st year options and they each have their perks, new dorms, old dorms and gooch dillard. G-D doesn't have any perks in my opinion. Upperclass man housing is okay, and some are further than others.

15.Health & Safety: I generally feel safe walking around grounds by myself at night, however, I do get a little nervous if I'm walking by myself and a large group of guys walks by or if I leave grounds by myself.

16.Health & Safety: Ultimately, very safe. Mostly because the students are encouraged to care for one another and they encourage one another to do things safely. There's always a lot of drinking, but mostly drinkers hurt themselves and not others. Theft is very low due to the Honor Code. There are a lot of unlit or sketchy areas off-grounds.

17.Transportation: The bus system isn't really that great, and getting to the airport is difficult (except around Thanksgiving, when the University provides shuttles). We use a smartphone app to see where buses are, however, which is pretty nifty. Getting to the Amtrak station or downtown Charlottesville is pretty easy - and students can ride any bus for free.

18.Transportation: School bus lines run pretty frequently and are free. City busses aren't great but students ride for free. Taxi availability is good except on weekends.

19.Local Area: UVA is located in Charlottesville, Virginia which is a mid-sized town with more attractions and far more populated than other in-state schools like James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. If you enjoy hikes and seeing nature there are many areas around UVA where you can go. It is located about 2 hours from Washington, DC and 1 Hour from Richmond so UVA students have convenient access to big cities as well.

20.Off-Campus Dining: The food in Charlottesville is amazing. It can be a little expensive at times, but it is totally worth it to treat yourself to nice meal every once in awhile to break the habit of eating dining food all the time.
